Columbia River Kommer I.F.B. Carbon Steel Blade

Columbia River Kommer I.F.B. Carbon Steel Blade
Columbia River Kommer I.F.B. Carbon Steel Blade
Columbia River Knife and Tool has a great new Combat Fixed Blade. The IFB stands for “Integral Fixed Blade.” It feels like a single piece of steel – handle and blade. Their method of manufacture is outlined below and, as I understand it, is a sort of molding process. The result is a remarkable knife. It has a heavy-ish feel with a great hand orientation on the handle. Columbia River Knife and tool has gotten the hardness is pretty good at about 61. It is carbon steel, so the coating will help preserve the piece. The sheath seems adequate- covering the blade with the widened start of the handle snapping it pretty securely. See more about the sheath and knife below. You can get them at www.knifecenter.com

When open, the handle is a real handle- it actually fits your hand in a grabbing position. The tail of the handle can also be used as an aggressive weapon. This knife joins the pantheon of super beefy folders from Cold Steel- along with the Super large Voyagers, The Vaquero Grande, the Extra Large Espada, the Rajah Series and probably some others that don’t come to mind. It is truly amazing

Spyderco Manix 2
Spyderco Manix 2 Folding Powerhouse of a Pocketknife
Spyderco has really outdone themselves on this knife. The Manix2 is a powerhouse of a folder. It is medium sized – well that’s relative and most will find this a full size knife with a just under 3.5″ blade. The handle is G10 which is fully lined with polished stainless steel. The jimping (texturing) on the top and under part of the handle is “deluxe.” The pocket clip is also highly polished. The best part is really the overall “bulldog” sort of feel you get with this product. It is beefy and solidly built. On top of that they are fully made by Spyderco knives in the USA. Then, on top of that, they are priced at $82.95- at least for the introduction. You can see them at www.knifecenter.com
