Blade Show 2010 was held over the last weekend- June 4 through June 6. We have posted the following news of the show for those interested.
Ka Bar has a new neck knife that is a collaboration between Ethan Becker and ESEE knives- a combo of the Izula and the BK11. It will be called the ESSKABAR – (esee plus kabar). Very nice item and Here it is
It has a skeletonized handle like the Izula and wider blade like the BK11.
Also a new camp knife in the BKT line with a lighter weight blade – more all around Camp type knife.
SOG says their Pendulum model that features a bolster that flips around to work as the blade lock will ship in August as will the Toothlock folders.
Chris Reeve has a new knife with Grant and Gavin Hawk. This knife won the Blade Show overall knife of the year.
No delivery date yet. Retail will be just under $500 with a unique lock on top of the handle. The other is a folder collaboration with Bill Harsey which is made in Italy. Only 440 made (the Razonal) half with gray and half black handles retail at under $200. All are inspected by Chris Reeve who is very meticulous about quality. These will be available very soon.
Spyderco will release a Manix II lightweight which won the “most innovative American design” award. They will have 154CPM steel. The handles are translucent plastic in various colors. There will definitely be a blue color and likely a clear translucent. They will still have a ball lock with cage. There are no liners just the plastic handles. Blade may be flat or hollow ground as they have not decided yet. The manufacturing quality on the handles is really good. Also, a titanium police model with a beautiful curved handle in a subtly purplish color and with linear design. Also a Finnish pukko style with wood handle and highly polished blade with a hole in it. Also, the return of the Bushcraft and this time it has a polished, layered g10 handle.
Look for Spyderco Bugs with pearl handles and a necklace ring- beautiful!
Benchmade has a beautiful new butterfly with g-10 handles. The Subrosa should ship in august.
Kershaw has a new large folder wi a sheepsfoot blade called the Tilt which won the “American made knife of the year” award.
It sports a carbon fiber handle and included ball bearing system- a series of ball bearin gs set in a plastic rin g arou8nd the pivot. This creats the ease of opening similar to the AKBS system, but you can take the knife apart without fear of the bearings being lost. Titanium back frame lock. It has a Vanax 75 cutting edge on a composite blade. MSRP will be 250 and less than 1000 will be available.
Also inter frames Ron Lake style with pearl only made in China but beautiful.
Speedform and speed form 2 should be out in 90 days. Or thereabouts. Also double-cross and wild turkey will be released from japan only 250 each. Two new fixed blades made in the USA.
Zero tolerance 350cp will be a stock model with a composite blade. Then a Rick Hinderer beast model which is a frame lock with titanium back.
Boker has some great items as always. The rold fixed blade will be with a black micarta handle rather than the white they had predicted.
Newest Miltne rAdams will be a ways off, the M4.
They are also looking to offer a Tom Krein Grasshopper neck knife. There will be a new BokerPlus Bokerclip where the pocket clip is hidden in handle when the knife is open and extends when closed.
A whole series of ceramic blade folders with titanium frame locks and carbon fiber handles look good for the Autumn. Blades are black ceramic. Rhino is a week out.
Columbia River M4 folders that we featured may be backordered for a while. The wood handles had a quality issue with shrinkage. They have a prototype of a Ken Onion walking cane with a carbon fiber shaft and an octopus stainless grip. Very intricate casting from Taiwan. They’re a long way off. Then there is a Brian Tigue, Klecker collaboration, so a Nirk steel knife handle but designed by Brian Tigue. This is very cool with the recurved blade with grooves. It feels great and is still a prototype so will be 2011 before they are available. Plus a Ken Onion hunting fixed blade. They have Micarta handles and are numbered to 1000. The blade is concave ground and they come with a leather sheath. They will sell for about $150. the Eros will be in later next week as will the Eatn tool. Flavio, the inventor of the IKBS system has a custom that CRKT will be doing a production model of. It is very fast opening and will be ready in 2012. Then there will be the Onion Wrinkle. WOW what a design. The custom model rocks and the production will be out in 2012.
