The tactical folding knives from Hogue are extremely high quality, beautiful production models of custom designs from Allen Elishewitz. Following the success of the EX01 and EX-F01 models, new for this year is the first liner locking model from Hogue; the EX02. Available in two different sizes and blade configurations, you have a choice between the drop point model and the wicked sharp tanto design with a 3-3/8″ or 3-3/4″ blade. Two totally different opening methods are also available, one with ambidextrous thumbstuds and the other with a flipper mechanism. Every EX02 has a reversible deep carry pocket clip, cryogenically treated 154CM blade, and a skull crusher/glass breaker at the butt end of the handle. The wicked cool Damascus Pattern G10, dubbed “G-Mascus”, is only found on Hogue knives and available in a black/gray color or OD green. They don’t specify what kind of washers or pivot system is used on the knife but believe me, you’ll be hard pressed to find a smoother opening blade. A quality design from an excellent custom designer, the EX02 can be found at www.knifecenter.com.
More from Hogue:
In 2009, Hogue entered into a collaboration with renowned custom knifemaker Allen Elishewitz to develop a new product line of high-end sporting cutlery. From basic concepts to design execution, Hogue’s manufacturing processes include the best ideas, finest materials, and finishing all of which we do ourselves, in our family owned facilities.
Introduced in 2012, the EX-02 is the first liner lock in the Extreme Series Knives. Every aspect was carefully engineered to ensure the user would get a tool they could treasure and pass down to the next generation. Unique features about this knife include an extra thick hardened stainless steel liner lock and a manual safety that prevents the lock from failing under extreme use.
This knife design can be effortlessly opened using the ambidextrous thumb stud or optional flipper tab. The flipper option allows for faster opening and provides a guard in front of the finger groove. The blade can be easily closed with one hand, even while wearing gloves. A solid back end allows the knife to be used as a striking tool and a deep finger groove helps control the EX-02 during use.
