Boker German made Camp Knife
Boker Knives created quite a stir last year with their re-introduction of the classic Solingen, German made camp knife. Since the limited run anniversary model was so successful, they have begun introducing in-line models, first in stag and now in oak handles. This is a beautiful knife, either as an heirloom or an everyday tool.

Cold Steel Trail Master 9-1/2″ SK-5 High Carbon Fixed Blade
Cold Steel Knives has offered the Trail Master for years. The Carbon V version is no longer made- it was an American made model produced by Camillus Knives in New York. Cold Steel Knives has found a very good steel to replace it with- the SK-5 carbon steel from Japan. The knives are made, we think, in Taiwan. These new Trail masters are very well made the Fit and Finish are perfect. We have a video from Cold Steel and a lot more in the way of pictures at www.knifecenter.com

Boker 140 Anniversary Series
We now have three knives from this 140th anniversary series. The Camp knife detailed below is our favorite so far.
Sometimes we get items in that I think are just plain cool. These Camp Knives from Boker are just that. They were some of the earliest models offered by Boker way back in the 19th century. Similar to Swiss Army style, they had multiple blades and functions. The handles are Chestnut wood and they come with a great leather sheath and watch fob type chain. In honor of their 140th year anniversary, Boker is releasing a different classic model every month.

Buck Gamut™ Folding Utility Knife
This is an interesting, new design from Buck Knives. The Gamut is a rounded handle folder that comes with a good quality belt sheath and lanyard. The handle has a great feel and it is a good sized blade. The steel is 420J2 stainless- which is typical of a lot of China knives- and this is made in China, but the overall quality if really good. The lockup is very solid- and this is something that a lot of very expensive knives have a problem with! The clip point blade is long and narrow with a serrated section. This is a good folder and I can absolutely see having one of these at a campsite for general use. It’s inexpensive enough that, if I left it behind, I wouldn’t sweat it.

SOG has produced assisted openers for years now and their system is one of our favorites. This new series has a great feel and has all the accouterments that a good combat folder should have: fast action, great feel, built in safety, reversible pocket clip and they look very cool. Congrats to SOG for keeping the bar high on combat folders!
