Boker Plus Colubris Fixed Blade Workhorse

Boker Plus Colubris Fixed Blade Workhorse

Very rarely do we get knives in the door that we have to double, then triple check the price to make sure we got it right. That’s just the case with the new Boker Plus Colubris, an all-around fixed blade designed by DJ Urbanovsky. When you get this knife in your hand, it’s a lot like the Ontario RAT folders, you just can’t believe what you’re getting for the price. True, the blade is made from 440C steel but the way Boker heat treats and finishes these blades, you end up with a great user steel that will hold an adequate edge. Other than the knock on the steel, we wouldn’t change a single thing about the knife. The G10 handle is ergonomically contoured for a comfortable grip in multiple positions and the aesthetic dimpling/texturing provides good purchase. The modified Wharncliff blade is angled for deep, effective slicing and has enough belly for most of your utility work. I strongly feel a fixed blade knife is only as good as it’s sheath, and the friction fit Kydex sheath you get with the Colubris is right on point. It perfectly fits the knife with little to no rattling sound, and comes with a multi-position Boker belt clip, which functions exactly the same as a Spyderco G-Clip. New Svord Hog Beater and EDC Fixed Blade

New Svord Hog Beater and EDC Fixed Blade

You may think this picture of these new Svord items is a joke but by no means does it even do justice to the shear vastness of the Hog Beater and the compact size of the EDC fixed blade, an excellent alternative to the Izula. The Hog Beater is a hunting dagger with a whopping 11-1/4″ double edge blade, convex sharpened as all Svord knives are. The hardwood handle and black leather belt sheath make for a very good looking package on this devastating hunting design. The EDC fixed blade is 6-1/8″ overall with a 3″ blade and orange cord wrapped handle. The package gets a nice style upgrade with the brown leather sheath which makes the design feel like it’s double the price and belongs at your side at all times. The only drawback to the knife design is that the finger cutout is a little shallow so your index finger is at risk of running onto the blade while stabbing. All Svord knives are made from high quality Swedish carbon steel and convex ground for a sharp, durable edge for all cutting tasks. You can see the new Svord designs at www.knifecenter.com.

Cold Steel Blowguns, Fun For Everyone

Cold Steel Blowgun Fun

There are few outdoor activities you can practice within the comfort of your own home or office. When we discovered the satisfaction of hitting a 1′ target across the office with a small dart shot from a blowgun, it changed the office atmosphere altogether. Stress levels have dropped significantly, and employees treat each other with greater respect now. The blowguns from Cold Steel are surprisingly accurate, even with little training.

The blow guns are available in 4 or 5 foot lengths, with an optional 2 foot extension. We have found that additional length adds to the range and accuracy. A quiver attached to the blowgun keeps track of a dozen darts. There are several variations of darts for those who go beyond target practice. Happy shooting from www.knifecenter.com!

Boker JTN “Join the Navy” Tactical Fixed Blade

Boker JTN "Join the Navy" Tactical Fixed Blade

This is a very well designed, high quality new combat knife from Jesper Voxnaes and Boker. It’s constructed from one solid piece of N690BO stainless steel with a beautiful stonewashed finish. The handle is contoured canvas Micarta with holes drilled through it allowing for the knife to be easily attached to a stick for a homemade spear. The clip point blade is an excellent tactical design that can also be pressed into hunting tasks with ease. Part of what makes a good fixed blade knife is having a good sheath and that’s definitely the case for the Boker JTN. The black leather sheath is extremely well made, visually appealing, and durable. It’s got a pouch on the front for extra survival gear and has Velcro and button attachments on the belt loop so the sheath can be put on and removed without having to undo your belt. A very nice knife from Boker that’s built like a tank and available at www.knifecenter.com.

Chris Reeve Knives – New One of a Kinds

Chris Reeve Knives - Unmatched Quality

New one of a kind knives from Chris Reeve! When it comes to production knives, Chris Reeve stands alone atop the mountain. He has made many innovations and collaborated on designs that have forever changed our industry. He is the father of the one-piece knife concept, with his original model MK IV, the chief innovator of the Reeve Integral Lock, commonly referred to as a Frame lock, and was even crucial to the development of S30V stainless steel. He worked alongside the Crucible Materials Company to develop the first steel specifically designed for the cutlery industry. The various inlays, CNC machined graphics on the handle scales or beautiful Devin Thomas Damascus steels can make your production knife one of a kind. If you don’t love Chris Reeve Knives, then you probably haven’t handled one – they’re that awesome. DPx Gear HEST/F 2.0 T3 Triple Black Special Edition Folder

DPx Gear HEST/F 2.0 Triple Black Special Edition Folder

DPx Gear, in partner with Italian knife manufacturer LionSteel, is doing some amazing things with their excellently designed HEST Folder. After almost a year of field use gathering opinions, suggestions, and modification ideas, DPX Gear has come out with their Triple Black special edition folder with some serious tactical improvements. The main complaint about their original folder by soldiers serving all over the world was that it just wasn’t tactical enough. The knife lacked serrations and the Titanium lock side and clip were too darn visible and with this simple idea at heart, the new HEST T3 was born. The knife now comes with a tactical black G10 handle scale, a PVD-coated Titanium lockbar, and is free of any discernible markings on the blade or clip. This allows for the knife to disappear into the night and with the sharp biting serrations, it’s possibly the perfect combat theater tool. Another awesome new feature of the Triple Black T3 folder is that the skull shaped adjustment tool now incorporates a built in compass. For it to function correctly, the tool had to be made from a non-magnetic alloy and what better for this than Titanium. Adjust your tactical tool with style and be sure to get yours before they’re gone forever, strictly limited to 500 production pieces. You can find this stout, tactical folder at www.knifecenter.com.

William Scagel Knives Now at the KnifeCenter

William Scagel Knives Now at the KnifeCenter

William Scagel, rest his soul, can be considered the father of modern custom knifemaking as many of his designs and techniques are still copied and used to this day. Scagel’s style of using stacked leather and stag, paired with a drop point hunting blade became popular for it’s quality, elegance, and high degree of function. Scagel Knives were always 100% handmade, as William preferred it, making original Scagel models extremely hard to come by. Today, a new company has begun remaking Scagel knives to the same exacting standards in Michigan and they come in two different fixed blade models, the Bowie and the Hunter. Whether you prefer stag or leather, a maneuverable 5-3/8″ blade or a larger 8″ size for more serious tasks, there’s a Scagel configuration for you. Get one in your hand and you’ll be able to tell the absolute quality of every William Scagel knife, available at www.knifecenter.com.
