Boker Plus Colubris Fixed Blade Workhorse

Boker Plus Colubris Fixed Blade Workhorse

Very rarely do we get knives in the door that we have to double, then triple check the price to make sure we got it right. That’s just the case with the new Boker Plus Colubris, an all-around fixed blade designed by DJ Urbanovsky. When you get this knife in your hand, it’s a lot like the Ontario RAT folders, you just can’t believe what you’re getting for the price. True, the blade is made from 440C steel but the way Boker heat treats and finishes these blades, you end up with a great user steel that will hold an adequate edge. Other than the knock on the steel, we wouldn’t change a single thing about the knife. The G10 handle is ergonomically contoured for a comfortable grip in multiple positions and the aesthetic dimpling/texturing provides good purchase. The modified Wharncliff blade is angled for deep, effective slicing and has enough belly for most of your utility work. I strongly feel a fixed blade knife is only as good as it’s sheath, and the friction fit Kydex sheath you get with the Colubris is right on point. It perfectly fits the knife with little to no rattling sound, and comes with a multi-position Boker belt clip, which functions exactly the same as a Spyderco G-Clip. Check out this awesome new Boker Plus knife at www.knifecenter.com.

Hardcore Hardware Australia in the House!

Hardcore Hardware Australia in the House!

The tides of the fixed blade knife are a-changing and Hardcore Hardware Australia is riding that wave and doing it very well. These days people are flocking to the larger, bulkier knives that have a multitude of uses beyond cutting. They want to be able to chop, pry, split, saw, dig, hammer, break, etc. from a single tool that they always have at their side. Much like Mercworx, Robson RPW, and Medford Knives, these are meant for battlefield use and hard use at that. All blades and tactical axes are made from Teflon coated D2 tool steel and measure at least 6 mm thick. This gives you peace of mind that Hardcore Hardware knives can handle what needs to be done, even if not intended to do so. Fit and finish is right up there with Spartan Blades when it comes to fixed knives, they are just perfectly ground, honed, and assembled to give you a tool that will last years. Check out this newest bomb proof line of knives at www.knifecenter.com.

New Jason Brous Creations at the KnifeCenter

New Jason Brous Creations at the KnifeCenter

Jason Brous, the mastermind behind Brous Blades, is one of the great young craftsman on the rise in our industry. His first successful design, the Silent Soldier, was and still is among the most popular true neck knives we carry. Soon after the Silent Soldier came out, a fixed blade with three distinct bevels was created called the Triple Threat. Now, just over a year later, we are pleased to see coming through our doors a very well done folding version of that wicked knife. The 3-1/2″ blade is made from D2 tool steel and is a paired with a 4-1/2″ well textured and contoured G10 handle. Speed, ergonomics, lockup, fit and finish are right on par with knives of this price point.

The Coroner is the large fixed blade model we just received in and it really is an awe-inspiring piece of work. Brous has a strong background in CNC-machine work and that’s readily apparent with this knife. The 6-1/4″ spear point blade is a whopping 1/4″ thick piece of D2 tool steel but is not sharpened on both sides.  The chainsaw-like serrations on the blade spine are extremely well executed and designed to unleash devastating, non-lethal, impact strikes. The milled G10 handle is a little small for gloved hands but it locks the heavy knife in the hand extremely well. Besides the excellent milling work on the blade, the sheath is not far behind as the best part of this knife. The friction fit Kydex sheath is as slim and sleek as it is functional; one of the best executed Kydex sheaths I’ve ever seen. These are two great overbuilt knives that you can be sure not many other people will have, check them out at www.knifecenter.com.

Ontario Strike Fighter Tactical Fixed Blades

Ontario Strike Fighter Fixed Blades

The new Strike Fighter knives from Ontario are well designed, stout back-up tools meant for any military or law enforcement personnel. The handle shape and texturing are borrowed from the successful XM-1 Military folders and made from removable black Micarta slabs. Each knife comes with an excellent plastic molded friction fit sheath that secures the knife tightly without rattling and has an attached Tek-Lok from the factory. There are two sizes of the fixed Strike Fighters available – the SG-3 with a three inch blade and the SG-2 with a stubby two inch blade. It beats me why anyone would need such a little fixed blade, when the SG-3 model can do everything it’s smaller brother can plus much more. Overall, these are very comfortable and durable new American made designs that will not fail you when you need them. Check them out at www.knifecenter.com.

The White River Now Runs Through the KnifeCenter

The White River Now Runs Through the KnifeCenter

White River Knife & Tool was a new brand from Michigan that we discovered at the Blade Show in Atlanta this past month. They are producing some extremely high quality, functional knife designs and we knew they were a brand we had to offer to you guys. We chose to go with their cross-over Izula style knife, the Backpacker, and their small utility neck knife, the Knucklehead, thinking these models a pretty good representation of their overall brand. What sets White River Knives apart from the competition is that they’re machining all of these in-house from one solid piece of S30V. This stainless steel, from Crucible Materials Company, was the first steel specifically formulated to be used in knife making. Prized for it’s superior edge holding capabilities and corrosion resistance, CPM S30V will perform as well as your 1095 Carbon steel camp knives but rust at a fraction of the rate, even without the coating. All White River Knives come with a handmade Kydex sheath, an attached lanyard, and can be found at www.knifecenter.com.

Spartan Blades Harsey Hunter and Model II Combat Knives

Spartan Blades Harsey Hunter and Model II

If you’ve ever wondered what the ideal tactical “go-to-war” combat knife may be, the Harsey family from Spartan Blades might just be the answer. The Hunter and Model II are classic, functional designs with some hi-tech, new-age features. The full-tang S35VN blades are 3/16″ thick which provides excellent torsional strength and are available in your choice of color. The canvas micarta scales are 3D machined and contoured to give you a firm grip while also offering superb ergonomics in the forward and reverse grips. Many people believe a fixed knife is only as good as it’s sheath and if that’s the case, this is where the Spartan Harsey blades excel. You have the choice between a MOLLE compatible Cordura sheath or one made from Kydex, both lock in the knife extra securely and provide an ample array of carry options. These knives are based loosely off “The Yarborough” fixed blade designed by William Harsey, which is the knife presented to each cadet of the US Army Special Forces Qualification Course upon their graduation. You can see these works of edged art at www.knifecenter.com.
