This week our Steal is the Cayuga, a terrific basic fixed blade from the Ontario Knife Company. The Cayuga is designed by and for hunters, and is one of the highest quality American-made fixed blades you’re going to find in this price range.
Handle is mold injected with a propylene under mold and a Kraton over mold, making it extremely durable. Shape is ergonomic and comfortable, and feels really solid in the hand. The flare at the butt of the handle and the friction provided by the Kraton make for an assured grip.
Blade is a 4.75″ drop point made from 420 stainless steel, with a brushed satin finish. At about a fifth of an inch, this is a pretty thick, rugged blade. There’s a nice long cutting edge with a lot of belly, meaning good cutting power on this model.
Included in the package is a hand-stitched, genuine leather sheath with belt loop. The handle snaps in to make for a very secure carry in any conditions.
If you’re looking for a reliable fixed blade to use and abuse in your outdoor excursions, you can’t beat the Ontario Cayuga. To learn more about this knife, click here. To see our entire inventory, visit knifecenter.com
