The Kershaw Knockout definitely earns its name. The SpeedSafe assisted opening system, invented by Ken Onion, makes this knife fly open and it’s a joy to play with. The blade is made from the awesome Elmax stainless steel, and a piece of the lightweight aluminum handle has been knocked out and inset with a stainless steel plate to create a frame lock. Dubbed the sub-frame lock, it’s just as strong and functions exactly the same, but allows Kershaw to keep the price of this USA made item in check. Limited production of only 500 pieces for this stonewashed model, and 500 for the blackwashed one, get one before they’re gone at www.knifecenter.com.
The Burning Horizon is the first midtech offered by Bad Blood Knives. Collaboratively designed by custom knifemakers Sean Kendrick and David Mosier, it’s made in America by Chad Nichols Damascus. The knife features a 3.5” blade made from S35VN stainless steel with a heavily stonewashed finish and gold anodized Titanium handles. This is by far the best knife released so far from Bad Blood, it’s got top quality fit and finish. They are limited to only 200 so I would get one before they are gone at www.knifecenter.com.
What a comfortable handle the new Bushcraft Field Knife from Ontario has. It’s great for long periods of use when your cutting, splitting, whittling, creating fuzz, etc. A simple, strong blade design and a comfortable handle is really all you need in a knife. This comes with a durable nylon belt sheath that does its job well and has an accessory pouch for the included fire steel and striker. And the best thing about this knife is it’s made in the USA.

Kershaw comes up with so many great innovations that quickly become the industry standard. Their new composite blades may just be the next big thing. The Kershaw Rake features high-performance Sandvik 14C28N steel on the spine, and the wear-resistant D2 steel on the cutting edge. The wide blade and deep belly give this knife a longer usable edge than other knives of similar lengths, increasing the slicing capabilities of the knife. Despite the size of the blade, the assisted action snaps the knife open quickly and firmly. Best of all, it is made in the USA.

We have wanted to support a small American made strop company for several years now, and were quite excited to discover the fine folks at Green River Leather. They offer strops in cowhide, horsehide, and combination. Each type of leather offers two different “grits” depending on the side of the strop used. These are as beautiful as they are well made and affordable!
