KnifeCenter’s Favorite Knife Videos

Way back in 1882, America celebrated the very first Labor Day. This holiday commemorates the contributions of American workers who, day in and day out, put in work to keep our economy afloat. On this day, many of us are lucky enough to take a break and enjoy time with our family and friends. For those out there who are still putting in the manpower, we salute you.

If you’re on the last leg of your three day weekend and vegging out, why not pass the time with some great knife-related video content? We’ve pulled together our top five favorite KnifeCenter videos so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy some high-quality knife content.

Knives in Film

We wanted to celebrate National Knife Day this year with something a little more fun and lighthearted. We always get distracted when we see new movies the second a knife enters the picture, so we put our heads together (and frequently visited our buddies over at Blade Forums) to pull together some of media’s greatest knife scenes. Now you know the answer to the age-old question: “What knife did Tom Cruise use in Collateral?”

Sal & Eric Glesser from Spyderco

We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to sit down with Sal and Eric together at BLADE Show 2017. As we were editing this video after the show, Eric came to visit us at our homebase in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We got to ask a few more questions and clarify some ideas he had brought up during the original interview, and it turned into a nice video about Spyderco’s history, processes, and philosophies.

National Knife Day: Advice for New Collectors

Another inspirational National Knife Day video! This time we sat down with some longtime KnifeCenter employees, including owner Howard Korn and buyer Jason Kunkler, and asked them what they look for in a new knife and what advice they have for new collectors. If you’re just getting into the knife world, there are some great thoughts here for you.

The Form of Function: How is a Knife Designed?

An often ignored aspect of knifemaking is the design process. Our creative department has a lot of interest in the aesthetics of knives, so we took the opportunity to ask knifemakers where they derive their inspiration from when they’re sitting down to design a knife.

A Material World: Knife Makers on Steel Selection and Testing

When it comes to the art of knife making, the materials being used are often the most debated part of a knife’s overall design. We wanted the behind-the-scenes scoop on picking the perfect steel from some of our favorite custom knife makers. Our favorite part of this video is hearing Ken Onion, Jake Hoback, Brad Southard, and Duane Dwyer geek out about different steel selections.

Cutting Edge: The Future of the Knife Industry

With so many products coming in every day, it’s easy to get bogged down by current knife trends. When we got the chance to sit down with some of the best knife makers in the game, we made it a point to ask what future trends they’re looking into and what they’re excited to see coming next.

These videos are just a few examples of the awesome content we have over on our YouTube channel. We post everything from knife reviews to short-form videos showing off the action of our favorite folding knives. There are a ton of great interviews with famous knife makers like Ken Onion, Tony Marfione, Robert Young Pelton, and more. What videos would you like to see? We’re always open to suggestions for great video content! Hit us up on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter – we’re ready to talk knives.
