The Mantis Vuja De is finally here at the KnifeCenter and what a cool knife this is! The butterfly karambit – many people thought it couldn’t be done but the genius behind Mantis and QTRM5TR Knives, Jared West, has pulled it off and executed it well. It features a very cool and effective button that locks the knife in both the open and closed positions. It’s not really designed for practicing your flipping tricks as the lock automatically engages when the knife becomes completely open. It could flip smoother, like a Benchmade 51 or 62, and it could be a little sharper like an Emerson Karambit but it really is nothing like those other knives. It’s in a class all its own with a 2″ M-VX steel hawkbill blade and 7″ overall profile including the rear finger hole so you’ll never have the problem of guessing which one the safety handle is again. Karambits are tactical, defense specific tools and the Vuja De by Mantis Knives is no different, plus it has the cool added feature of being a Bali-Song flipper. Check it out at www.knifecenter.com.

There’s nothing like sitting around practicing your flipping skills with a quality butterfly knife. New from Mil-Tac, the Tactical Bali Tool designed by Jason Breeden is like nothing else you’ve ever flipped before. This butterfly knife does not have a locking latch but a pair of strong magnets in the handle that keep the knife open or closed without impeding flipping. There is a strong detent that keeps the knife closed so it will not open accidentally and once that initial force is overcome, the knife flips very smoothly. Breeden, also the designer of the Spyderco Captain, has a thing for multi-functional blades and his new Bali-Song does not disappoint. The base of the blade is a pry tool and the finger choil can double as a non-leather skull crusher but does not appear to be an able glass breaker. The 3-3/4″ N690Co blade is amazingly sharp from factory and is a simple shape with plenty of belly. The Tactical Bali Tool is a very cool new item, check it out at www.knifecenter.com.

Building off the overwhelming success of the Model 42, the newest Bali-Song from Benchmade is an absolute beaut. The 62 keeps the same Weehawk blade shape, now made from D2 tool steel and measures in at 4-1/4″. The handles are now made from stainless steel for a heavier knife which means easier flipping. The latch mechanism on this butterfly is the T-latch which comes attached to the bite handle with torx screws and is both reversible and removable. This knife is true Benchmade quality, making for an excellent collectible or usable bali-song and it comes with a soft nylon carry sheath. Bradley Cutlery Kimura Butterfly Knife
Bradley Knives has relatively few models. The company is owned by a large distributor and he has his knives made by other companies. This Kimura Butterfly is made by Kershaw and it shows. The steels used as well as the finish on the blade and handle really remind me of the Leek series. This seems very solidly made with few bells and whistles. The latch is manual- no spring. This is perfect for the butterfly enthusiasts who want a good product but don’t want to spend the hundreds of dollars that quality American made ones will cost. Just a solidly built butterfly with solid steel handles and a good quality blade. The whole thing is very attractive and we like these!
