The Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade Show just finished in Las Vegas. This is the show that the knife industry uses to announce new products for the year. We have a bunch of news from it that we will be imparting through the next few weeks.
Here are some of the great new items. SOG will release the AEGIS folder with assisted opening action and drop point blade. Also. a custom collaborative named the Kiku with Koji Hara, the famous Japanese maker. Also, more autos, and a Vision with drop point blade called the “visionary.” There is also an upscale knife called the “Fatcat” and a totally remade Stingray, designated the Stingray II. They will have a new fixed blade in the Bowie series called the “Agency.”
Spyderco will have a slew of new introductions as usual. Included are white handle Enduras, Delicas and a few others, the Rookie makes a comeback, a new Police model with G10 handles, a small butterfly, the Mariner II finally coming back with H1 steel, the Rock Lobster large folder, a Superhawk with large hook blade, a new Bob Lum with G10 handle, the FB20 Rock Salt Schemp designed fixed blade and, of course, lots more.
Gerber will re-release the MarkII combat fixed blade although we have no idea why they ever discontinued it. Also, some stag handle Freemen and a line of stag handle fixed blades and stockman and trapper models from China with great scroll work on the bolsters. Also a reworked river knife, a great folder with built in screw drivers, an additional Hinderer folder, the razor blade folder will finally ship, and there will be some new tools.
Bear and Son cutlery will have the Western Bowie which is no longer produced by Camillus. They also have a limited run of a beautiful damascus that has one layer with higher nickel content giving a great contrast.
Queen is largely unchanged except that the plastic handles are largely discontinued leaving the amber bone, mother of pearl and darkened birds eye maple.
Columbia River has the usual thousand new items (only a bit exaggerated). They have 2 new Elishewitz models and are featuring a new plastic for the handles.
Badger by Gallagher as well as a “Slide Lock” with a really great mechanism. Lake has the lake 111 and the Laredo, the Thunderbolt large folder and the Sentinel. Halligan has a few modified models like a black HUG as well as a new Slip KISS.
Kommer has a new way-out opener called the Fulcrum. Plus he designed a “leek” type folder called the Badger. The Carson knives are coming in from China with plastic scales and very good pricing.
