Ten Items To Up Your EDC Game

At KnifeCenter, we have a pretty unique way of getting to know people. We don’t take them out to dinner or quiz them about their favorite hobbies or interests – we always ask to see their everyday carry first. A person’s EDC says a lot about them, whether they realize it or not. If they’re outdoorsy and active, you may see a load bearing carabiner or a water-resistant wallet. A frequent partier will probably have a pretty nifty bottle opener on hand, or a hands-on person may have a Leatherman or some kind of multi-tool they use to tackle tasks on the go.

If your current EDC is a little lackluster, don’t worry – KnifeCenter has you covered. We’re the original and largest online catalog of cutlery, and that includes the best and most useful selection of EDC items that will definitely tell the world what an awesome person you are.

  1.  The Wallet Ninja 18-In-1 Multi-Tool

This functional tool is the size of a credit card and will slide right in your wallet. It’s a bottle opener, a screwdriver, a can opener, a cell phone stand, a ruler, and more all in one. It’s also TSA-approved, meaning you’ll have a trusty sidekick when it comes time to plan your next trip. Its heat treated black stainless steel is guaranteed to never rust or bend, so your $9.95 is going to go a long way.

  1. Chris Reeve Leather Wallet

Speaking of wallets, when was the last time you bought one? This semi-custom leather wallet from Chris Reeve Knives has a simple design we love. It has two compartments to separate your cash from your credit cards, and its sturdy calfskin leather construction makes it worth the price. If you’re looking for all-weather performance, check out this Maxpedition CMC Wallet – its water and abrasion-resistant nylon fabric makes it a great wallet for outdoor use.

  1. A Tactical Pen

Everyone should have a pen handy, and it’s even better if that pen doubles as a self-defense tool. We love the way these pens write, and they’re tools that we encourage you (and your loved ones) to have within easy reach. These tactical pens are a great bargain that could potentially be a life-saver – it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

  1. A Rite in the Rain Pocket Notebook

Just as they say you should always keep a notepad by the phone, you should probably try to keep one in your pocket. Your cell phone is more than likely your current go-to memo pad, but it’s always wise to have a backup – especially one that gives great all-weather performance and has a nonabsorbent cover.

  1.  A Uniquely-Designed Victorinox Swiss Army Knife

Almost everyone has heard of a Swiss Army Knife – it’s a great multi-tool that comes with several integrated utensils. A few common tools you’ll see on this type of knife are scissors, tweezers, nail files, and a plain or serrated blade. We love the fact that this collection of Victorinox Swiss Army Knives sports fun and creative designs that were chosen from social media submissions from all around the world.

  1. Leatherman Skeletool

Maybe you’re thinking, “I don’t need a multi-tool, I already have a Swiss Army Knife”. Well then, maybe it’s time to up your game and go Leatherman. Their stainless steel Skeletool can handle tougher tasks than some Swiss Army Knives thanks to their built in pliers and wire cutters. We offer a huge collection of models with different tool options – you can even go with a smaller version like the Leatherman Micra Keychain Mini, which will help you save a little bit of money while still delivering the same great quality performance.

  1. A Zippo Lighter

Why choose a Zippo over a traditional gas station lighter? It’s a tool you will be able to keep refilling and reusing, their windproof line comes with a lifetime guarantee so you can get it repaired for free, and they come in a vast range of distinctive designs and patterns.

  1. Kershaw Dividend Flipper Knife

The Dividend from Kershaw is a slim, sleek knife that makes it an ideal candidate for an EDC. The design was inspired by Kershaw’s Link Series, but was created to be a more compact version. It has a stainless steel drop point blade that makes it an efficient slicing tool and an easy SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism. If you’re looking for an EDC knife that’s both handsome and handy, you’ve found your glass slipper.

  1. CRKT Squid Folding Knife

CRKT’s Squid Folding Knife was designed specifically to be a great EDC – it’s compact, it weighs in at mere 3.4 ounces, and it’s very reasonably priced. This knife has a deep pocket clip that will give you a discreet and safe carry and sports an attractive stonewashed finish. If you’re someone who likes to put their EDC to work, this knife may be a great option due to its price – at $19.95, you can afford to give it some tough love without fear. Did we mention it comes in black?

  1. Spyderco Delica Folding Knife

Spyderco’s Delica is an EDC workhorse, and we have a pretty expansive collection that has a wide variety of vibrant handles and top quality blade finishes. There’s a reason why the Delica is one of Spyderco’s best selling knives.

In the end, every person is different and will create their own EDC that works for them and fits their personality. These are just ten of the many things that would be useful (and potentially life-saving) to have in your pocket or purse. Tell us what you would add to this list – follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so you can tag us with your favorite EDC and tell us why it should make our next list. Don’t forget to share this blog with your friends and let us know what list you’d like to see next!

Brous Blades Mini-Division Flipper Folder

Brouse blade knives sometimes feel like a Ferrari of knives. The style and feel and function are really at the top of their class. Everything is machined to very close tolerances and we are grateful to be able to offer these great products to you. These Mini Divisions are the smaller version of the popular Division. The Mini-Division Flipper offers a clean line design folder that bears a unique aesthetic, solid performance and innovative styling! The black cerakote finished D2 steel blade utilizes as an integrated flipper for quick blade deployment on a ball bearing pivot system. The drop point profile will feed material into the blade while a high hollow grind provides a very keen edge. A slim profile allows for easy carry and gives the knife an extremely effective point. The 3D contoured G10 handles support safe ergonomics with aggressive jimping rounding out the stylish balance of form and function. Featuring a titanium liner lock system that is carbidized with tungsten carbide providing a hardened lock face surface that eliminates stickiness. Stainless steel standoffs and flow-through construction make for a light weight, durable and easy to care for large folder. Schrade SCH601Ti Tactical

Schrade SCH601Ti Tactical

The Schrade 601Ti is one of the best knives they manufacture, and it’s not just because of the materials. D2 tool steel and Titanium handle scales with a solid frame lock are not Schrade’s norm, but this knife is something special. It’s got a great feeling in the hand, really just locks itself in, just from the handle shape alone. The radian recurved blade is angled for serious effectiveness in pull cuts and will hold an edge extremely well. Schrade seems to have taken a page out of Emerson’s playbook and used a Phillips screw for the pivot, which makes it very easy to adjust away from you torx screw set. We at KnifeCenter are extremely excited about this knife, it provides an excellent value in terms of it’s price and doesn’t sacrifice anything in terms of design or function. You can find them at www.knifecenter.com

DPx Gear HEST/F Limited Edition Folder

DPx Gear HEST/F Limited Edition Folder
This is a well made and well engineered folding pocketknife that will serve you well and last decades if not generations. The KnifeCenter likes the DPx products in general and this folder in particular. Each knife is numbered xxx/250 so you will know which one you received. The Niolox steel is well thought of in the knife collector community with a high wear resistance and sharpenability. The handle material is G10 – a common and effective material for its lightness and toughness, and titanium for the locking side. This is a common handle configuration in the knife industry and it really gives a great combination of utility and strength of lock. The titanium side of the handle has a piece that literally flexes over towards the blade so that, in the open position, it rests against the base of the blade locking it open. Simply moving it out of the way with your thumb allows the blade to close. It is a very strong lock when open and very easy to release to close. The pocket clip is designed for deep pocket carry. There is a pointed tungsten carbide glass breaking piece at the tail end of the handle as well. All in all, this is a real classic that you should consider adding to your collection or your pocket! Spyderco Hungarian Design Folding Knife

Spyderco Ethnic Series Pocket KnivesSpyderco Hungarian Design Folding Knife
Spyderco’s ethnic series has amazed a lot of us through the last several years. They have taken designs – some ancient – and modernized them in their own inimitable fashion, into modern Spyderco models. Included among them are the Jot Singh Khalsa, Bob Lum Chinese Models, the Ed Schempp Navaja, and the Nilakka Folding Puukko among others. This model, however, is really exceptional. The eastern European flavor is reflected in the stylized handle which fits an average sized hand very well. The dual extensions on the highly polished bolster serve as a thumb rest on top and a guard on the inside of the handle. The materials seem really well thought out a with nicely polished and well formed G10 handle along with a top quality steel blade that is what Spyderco calls a full flat grind- meaning flat from the top of the blade to the top of the final bevel that goes to the cutting edge. Although all parts of the handle, bolster and pocket clip are highly polished, the blade is left with a satin finish. This is a great knife, made in Taiwan and presented at Spyderco’s high level of quality. Collector’s will want to have one of these so that, in years to come, they will be able to take this out and amaze others. The liner lock works very well and is buried just enough to avoid accidental release. These swing open easily, lock securely and close conveniently. We see this latest entry from Spyderco Knives as a real winner, even though the price is not low. You get what you pay for- at least in this case, and in our opinion.

Pohl Force Knives- New Tactical Knives from Dietmar Pohl

Pohl Force Combat Knives

Pohl Force Combat Knives

Pohl Force Knives- New Tactical Knives from Deitmar Pohl
The Pohl Force combat knives have been very popular in Europe for some time. Dietmar Pohl has been a knife designer for some time and we have sold many that were made by Boker. This line of combat knives is manufactured by Lionsteel in Italy or in Taiwan. The Taiwan models use 440C steel for the blades and they are affordable. The Italian models use D2 for the blades and have a three dimensional texture for the G10 handles. These knives are really well made, both the Taiwanese and Italian models. Each is checked by Dietmar who also signs it’s certificate. The packaging is amazing with the fixed blades coming in a zipper pouch and the folders in a nice case. These are all large knives with thick blades and will serve you well. He always includes things like a sticker, certificate and instructions.
